California Community College Documents and Links

California Community College Association of Occupational Education
The California Community College Association of Occupational Education was established to serve as a statewide organization to advocate and promote interest and support for administrators having responsibility for vocational programs.

California Community Colleges
The California Community Colleges is the largest system of higher education in the nation, with 2.1 million students attending 113 colleges. Our colleges provide students with the knowledge and background necessary to compete in today’s economy. With a wide range of educational offerings, the colleges provide workforce training, basic courses in English and math, certificate and degree programs and preparation for transfer to four-year institutions.

Career Coach
College of the Sequoias has partnered with Career Coach in order to help students achieve their career goals through current industry information and their connection to programs. Studies show that college students who choose a program of study have higher completion rates than those who remain undecided. Career Coach offers everything from career exploration, labor market data and trends, current jobs available in the region, and well as direct connection to COS programs that will facilitate those jobs.

Centers of Excellence
The Centers of Excellence, in partnership with business and industry, deliver regional workforce research customized for community college decision making and resource development.

CollegeNext is a project of the Central Valley Higher Education Consortium (CVHEC), a non-profit incorporated partnership of 26 accredited public and private colleges and universities, and community college districts.

California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office for Jobs and the Economy
Community Colleges are essential catalysts to California’s economic recovery and jobs creation at the local, regional and state levels. The goals of Doing What Matters for Jobs and the Economy are to supply in-demand skills for employers, create relevant career pathways and stackable credentials, promote student success and get Californians into open jobs.

The LaunchBoard, a statewide data system supported by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and hosted by Cal-PASS Plus, provides data to California community colleges on the effectiveness of career and technical education (CTE) programs. This information is intended to facilitate local, regional and statewide conversations about how to improve students’ educational and employment outcomes.

Career Ladders Project
In partnership with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO), the Career Ladders Project and the RP Group have created a Dual Enrollment Toolkit. The Toolkit is an online resource that highlights promising practices and materials to support secondary and community college partners in offering high school students opportunities to earn college credits while they complete their high school diplomas. The toolkit complements and provides links to the official legal opinions, guidelines and advisories issued by the CCCCO, as well as pertinent legislation and regulations.

National Council for Workforce Education
The National Council for Workforce Education provides a national forum for administrators and faculty in workforce education and basic skills, as well as representatives of business, labor, military, and government, to affect and direct the future role of two-year and other post-secondary institutions in workforce education and economic development. NCWE provides the link between policy and workforce education and economic development by providing support, research, and critical information to members on current and future trends and policies.
