Our colleges provide students with the knowledge and background necessary to compete in today’s economy. With a wide range of educational offerings, the colleges provide workforce training, basic courses in English and math, certificate and degree programs and preparation for transfer to four-year institutions.
College of the Sequoias has partnered with Career Coach in order to help students achieve their career goals through current industry information and their connection to programs. Studies show that college students who choose a program of study have higher completion rates than those who remain undecided. Career Coach offers everything from career exploration, labor market data and trends, current jobs available in the region, and well as direct connection to COS programs that will facilitate those jobs.

The LaunchBoard, a statewide data system supported by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and hosted by Cal-PASS Plus, provides data to California community colleges on the effectiveness of career and technical education (CTE) programs. This information is intended to facilitate local, regional and statewide conversations about how to improve students’ educational and employment outcomes.
Career Ladders Project
In partnership with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO), the Career Ladders Project and the RP Group have created a Dual Enrollment Toolkit. The Toolkit is an online resource that highlights promising practices and materials to support secondary and community college partners in offering high school students opportunities to earn college credits while they complete their high school diplomas. The toolkit complements and provides links to the official legal opinions, guidelines and advisories issued by the CCCCO, as well as pertinent legislation and regulations.

The National Council for Workforce Education provides a national forum for administrators and faculty in workforce education and basic skills, as well as representatives of business, labor, military, and government, to affect and direct the future role of two-year and other post-secondary institutions in workforce education and economic development. NCWE provides the link between policy and workforce education and economic development by providing support, research, and critical information to members on current and future trends and policies.
