The Fresno County Office of Education received a $50,000 grant from the Deputy Sector Navigators for Advanced Manufacturing, and Health Workforce Initiative, “Doing What MATTERS for Jobs and the Economy. (Gurminder Sangha DSN Advanced Manufacturing, left and Valerie Fisher DSN Health, right)
The main objective of the grant is to increase participation from six counties of the San Joaquin Valley to the regional Science, Math and Engineering fair scheduled for March 16-19, 2015, at the Fresno Fairgrounds. The partnership between Deputy Sector Navigator’s, California Community Colleges and FCOE demonstrates the leadership efforts in building a collaborative environment regionally to support student success and prepare students for 21st century jobs and help support regional economic growth.
Jonathan Dueck, STEM Director, FCOE, stated that, “The grant will enhance FCOE outreach and support efforts to increase student participation from schools with traditionally have no participation schools in the fair.”
“Doing What MATTERS for Jobs and the Economy” is a four-pronged framework to respond to the call of our nation, state, and regions to close the skills gap. Please visit the website for more information.
