DESCRIPTION:LACOE’s Homeless Education and Foster Youth Services Progr
 ams will be hosting their eight in-person Homeless and Foster Symposium 
 on Thursday\, October 15\, 2026.  This all-day interactive workshop wil
 l cover the essentials in order to assist homeless and foster youth liai
 sons working in districts and charter schools throughout the county\, wh
 ile also serving as a learning platform for any agencies or service prov
 iders that support students experiencing homelessness or students in fos
 ter care.  Participants will be able to immediately apply the informati
 on as they work through real case scenarios.  School and district level
  staff who would benefit most from this Symposium are homeless and foste
 r youth liaisons\, front office personnel\, principals\, assistant princ
 ipals\, deans\, counselors\, and new site and district administrators. 
 Other staff that would benefit from this training would include Social W
 orkers\, Counselors\, DCFS Staff\, Probation\, Advocates\, and CASA’s.
 \n&nbsp\;\n\nTopics will include:\n\n 	Homeless and foster youth liaison
  basics including identification\, educational responsibilities\, school
  placement\, attendance\, transportation\, student records\, equal acces
 s\, and much more\n 	Federal and state laws\, legislative changes\, the 
 impact on service\, and promising practices\n 	Transportation\n 	Data an
 d documentation\n 	LCAP alignment\n 	LCFF and funding concerns\n 	Access
  to early education services\n 	Transition age youth and access to colle
