Columbia College Apprenticeship Initiative

Columbia College Apprenticeship Initiative
This January 2017 Columbia College, a beautiful Community College
in the foot hills of the Sierra’s, on boarded 28 apprentices into our Hospitality Management Apprenticeship Initiative. Apprentices in the program are working towards earning an Associate Degree while getting paid to do on-the-job training.
Columbia College Apprenticeship Initiative is a grant funded
program that provides apprentices in the program with course
books, uniforms, knife kits, program field trips, and covers
tuition fees. At least 48 students will have the opportunity to
complete an Associate of Science degree, while working as paid,
full-time apprentices for one of our two committed partners,
Black Oak Casino Resort and Evergreen Lodge/Rush Creek Lodge. Apprentices rotate through different professional areas at the
employer site over a 24 month period, to receive comprehensive
training in a range of positions that could include a combination
of front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, beverage management, retail, recreation and several aspects of kitchen
and food service.
